Luteinizing hormone (LH) is produced in both men and women from the anterior pituitary in response to gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), which is released from the hypothalamus. In women, LH helps regulate the menstrual cycle and the ovulation. In men, LH stimulates the production of testosterone, which is involved in the production of sperm.
